During the week I keep it in my truck to clean up job sites, clean off my miter saw and blow out the truck bed at the end of the day. This is not a heavy duty leaf blower, and once you accept that.it is a great tool. On the weekends i clean the deck and driveway of grass clippings and debris.all with no cord hassle or 2 cycle racket.I love the thing.
Great for clean up such as garages etc etc etc. But if I did it would be great for vegetable garden or delicate plants and flowers. It's a small blower and great for tight areas. I just love it. I blown out my carport before the gardener come over.
Not good for large projects. I don't have a garden. Also I blew out all the dust under my refrigerator. I just love this mini blower. Nice.
It has adjustable speed.
It performs the shop duties of an air blow gun without the need of a compressor and hoses. Then a collection bag (not supplied with blower) is attached to the output to collect the vacuumed debris. Better yet, Makita has just introduced a new 18v LXT vacuum, quite similar to a dustbuster; the Makita BCL180ZW. The nozzle of the blower (the long black tube) is made of heavy rubber and detaches with a simple twist. It would almost fit in a toolbox. The variable speed function is invaluable from heavy volume in cleaning out the buildup of dust and chips in tablesaws and planers, to the light "dusting off" needed on shelving and drawers (without blowing away the contents). But for someone with other LXT tools, already having a charger and batteries, this is definitely a worthwhile investment. It would do in a pinch, but certainly not something I could make a habit of.
Like all of the LXT tools, the blower is quite powerful, very rugged, lightweight and well thought out. LXT batteries give it plenty of power and runtime; much more than one would anticipate from a battery powered device. As far as the vacuum functionality, the nozzle is simply removed from the blower port and twisted onto the air intake port. However, I found this configuration to be too awkward to be really useful. The cloth bag is identical to one found on a Makita belt sander, plate joiner or similar device. If you want one, do an internet search for Makita #122321-1; that is the part number of the dust collection bag. I did purchase a bag, approx.
The ability to clean off all the dust on your clothing from working around heavy sawdust, drywall dust etc. I don't have one yet, but am ordering one. This flexible nozzle can readily be flexed (bent) to point the blower into hard to reach areas. Its small size and very light weight make it all the more useful and portable. It is equally as impressive on a job site as in the shop.
The simple "twist to remove" breaks the blower down to ultimate portability. But for the other 90% of the time where a portable blower would fit the bill, this Makita is as handy as a shirt pocket. It should prove to be another "must have" addition to the LXT tool bag.For heavy yard usage and constant leaf blowing, a larger electric or gas blower would be more appropriate. This blower is an excellent addition to Makita's LXT lineup of tools. - this alone makes the blower a must have.It would be hard to justify the purchase of this if it were to be the only LXT tool one were buying, given the fact that a charger and battery together will run $100+.
$16, from a tool supply house, but am not impressed with transforming this into a vacuum.
Because of the ease of this tool, I use it all the time and on things I would not have considered in the past. I clean my patios, walkways, driveway, and yes, I have trees everyplace, including an arbor. The convenience far outweighs the need to recharge the lithium-ion battery--which is simple and fast. I've also been using it to remove dust from my cars; and, it's great at a lower speed inside the house (try it on books). I had no idea this blower would be as compact as it is. I love the size and weight. This little Makita far surpasses my expectations.
Does not blow out enough air volume to be usable for wet or a large pile of leaves. Who knows, maybe it will the start of a new tool line for me :-)I gave it only 4 stars due to the high cost, and lack of supplying the dust collection bag. Does a good job on lightweight stuff like sawdust, dry leaves, grass clippings. Not sure I want one because it would be awkward to hold as a vacume tool.
I've never needed or used the full capacity of the battery at one time, so I can only guess that it lasts around 10-15min.Charger is very high tech with several status lights, and has an internal cooling fan that comes on when the battery is charging. Plus not sure the blower fins/blades can handle occasional hard debri.I originally wanted to buy the WORX Air WG540.5 Blower, but it was backordered, not available, or had very long shipping time. As a blower, it works as advertised. This Makita was the only other blower with Lithium-Ion battery I could find. The harder you sqeeze, the faster the speed(variable). Because I do not have any Makita tools, the total for all three was around $200.
Very lightweight(portable), and quiet. No Trigger lock for long jobs. I'm always nervous when the charger is more high tech than the device.Instructions says blower can be used as a vacume by placing the rubber tube on the intake port, but the dust collection bag for the blower port is not included. Although costing twice as much as the Worx Blower, I decided to buy this Makita blower because I could receive it very quickly, and it had good reviews as well as reputation. I was not sure about this purchase since the battery and charger was not included. It has three settings, but I just keep it on high since the other two setting just limits how far you can sqeeze the trigger.
Not sure where to get one.
